The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said the P11 billion worth of illegal drugs seized in Infanta, Quezon last March 15 have been destroyed by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
In a statement, the NBI said the destruction of the illegal drugs was done last June 2 based on an order issued by the regional trial court (RTC).
It said that on PDEA’s invitation , six NBI forensic chemistry personnel attended and witnessed the destruction of the drugs at the Integrated Waste Management, Inc. (IWMI) in Trece Martires City in Cavite.
“The NBI chemist in charge conducted the inventory and accounted 80 sealed black megaboxes which were equated counts of evidence that were turned over to PDEA,” it said.
The seizure of about 1.6 tons of illegal drugs “is considered the biggest drug haul and unprecedented in Philippine history to date,” it also said.
The operation resulted in the arrest of 10 persons “who were caught in the act of transporting the illegal drugs on board three commuter vans,” it added.
