Duterte said she chose Hernando to administer the oath of office because of her friendship with him and his wife.

“He is a former professor. He and his wife are my good friends for over 10 years,” the Vice President-elect explained.

Duterte said that she would spend the night at home before her inauguration on Sunday, June 19, which happens to fall on Father’s Day. Her father, outgoing President Duterte, will reportedly attend the event after missing her proclamation last month.

Her inauguration will be at the San Pedro Square in downtown Davao due to its significance of being between the Davao City Hall and the San Pedro Cathedral. She will also use a “new bible, given as a gift” during the event.

Duterte’s team earlier released details about the inauguration event, which will be followed by a thanksgiving music fest to be headlined by some artists and celebrities.

The University of Mindanao Alumni Chorale will perform the Philippine National Anthem because they “symbolize Davao/Mindanao.”

The Vice President-elect, however, did not reveal details about her Filipiniana, only saying that there is no particular significance to the jewelry she will wear on the day of her inauguration.

She pointed instead to Davao-based designer Silverio Anglacer to answer questions about her Filipiniana.

The designer has yet to respond to the queries.

The outgoing Davao City mayor chose to be inaugurated earlier than President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s inauguration on June 30 because she wanted to be in Manila for that event.

Traditionally, the presidents and vice presidents were inaugurated on the same day, June 30.

Despite taking her oath of office on Sunday, Duterte will only assume responsibilities of the office at noon on June 30, as mandated by the Philippine Constitution.
