A Malacañang official confirmed the Chief Executive’s attendance at Duterte-Carpio’s inauguration as the country’s 15th vice president.

The Manila Bulletin also asked the Vice President-elect’s spokesperson, Liloan Mayor Christina Frasco, whether or not Duterte will attend the event.

In a reply, she said, “President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has confirmed his attendance at the inauguration of Vice President-elect Sara Duterte.”

Duterte was invited by his daughter who will be sworn into office by Supreme Court (SC) Justice Ramon Paul Hernando.

The outgoing Davao city mayor also invited President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr., but he has yet to confirm his attendance.

Duterte-Carpio would be inaugurated at the San Pedro Square at the intersection of San Pedro and Bolton Streets in Davao City.

“On June 18 to 19, several streets in the downtown area near the vicinity of City Hall and neighboring areas will be closed to vehicles. The driving public is advised to take other routes for these two days. Heavy traffic should be expected during the weekend,” Frasco earlier said in a statement.

Duterte-Carpio’s family was not present when Congress formally declared her the winner of the 2022 vice presidential race on May 25.

The President, whose six-year term will end on June 30, skipped the proclamation rite of his daughter last month.
