The San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm (SRPPF) in Zamboanga City is set to release 12 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs).
In a statement, SRPPF said those set for release had enrolled in the reintegration program, including a mental health awareness lecture.
“The mental health of Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) should be treated with the highest care and attention to ensure their well-being which has a positive impact in their involvement in various reformation programs with officers and peers, thus reducing bad conduct or depressive inclinations while serving their sentence inside prison compound,” the SRPPF said.
It said that “under the leadership of Bureau of Corrections Director General Gerald Q. Bantag, SRPPF has been promoting Mental Health Awareness which leads to a more secure and responsive community.”
BuCor records show that in 2021 the SRPPF released a total of 423 PDLs, part of a total of 4,610 PDLs freed from various prison facilities in the country.
