Janine Gutierrez’s character, AM, in new film, Ngayon Kaya (T-Rex Entertainment and WASD Films), believes in the universal law of attraction. Meaning, if you really want something with all your heart, the universe will open it. You can attract things into your life.
Janine recalled that a few years back, she had been shortlisted for a key role, Amihan, in GMA’s Encantadia reboot. She loved the role too much, but in the end, after having gone that far in the auditions, she didn’t get the coveted part.
“I was super heartbroken then as I really, really wanted it.”
Then along came Ngayon Kaya opposite Paulo Avelino, a story of what-if’s and unfinished business between two friends, opening June 22 in theaters.
“I was pleasantly shocked when I read the script, and my name, AM is short for Amihan.”
“Now, I am my own Amihan, firming my belief that what’s yours is yours. The affirmation of that belief is the script.”
Janine says she really liked the script for its authenticity.
“There are so many scenes and lines here that happened to me in real life. So many what-if’s. Sayang moments. You can relate to it, it makes you feel less alone. I want to be a part of films that feel so real.”

Everything will be “fine, fine, fine,” singer-songwriter Karylle sings in her latest indie single, “Fine.”
The song reminds us that after all this mess we’re going through, everything will go fine eventually.
The "It’s Showtime" host says she started working on the song at the height of the pandemic when she would go to work daily and there were no vaccines yet available.
“During a production number, my anxiety was pacified by Erik (Santos) and Nyoy (Volante), whose ‘can do’ attitude can put anybody at ease, especially me. It made me realize that we were facing the situation bravely.”

More and more Filipino actors are out to try their luck in Hollywood. James Reid, Liza Soberano, Enrique Gil, Carla Humphries are just some of the new dreamers. As Hollywood looks out to vast film markets globally, the world’s film capital is gradually opening roles for Asian or Eurasian-looking artists.
James has reportedly set up his own management office in tandem with some well-connected US businessmen. Liza, whose ABS-CBN contract has expired, is joining him as talent.
