150 PDLs granted parole, executive clemency; set for immediate release

The Board of Pardons and Parole (BPP) has approved the grant of parole and executive clemency to 150 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) in the prison facilities of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor).

BuCor Deputy Director General Gabriel P. Chaclag said on Wednesday, June 8, that those granted parole or executive clemency were among those recommended for release last April.

“Last Monday (June 6), 150 carpetas (prison records of PDLs) were returned and approved for release,” Chaclag said.

He said that 1,174 carpetas were forwarded to the BPP last April.

From the New Bilibid Prisons in Muntinlupa City, 320 PDLs were recommended for parole and 249 for executive clemency; Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF) in Davao del Norte, 103 parole and 38 executive clemency; Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City, 60 parole and 27 executive clemency; Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm (SPPF) in Palawan, 40 parole and 52 executive clemency; San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm (SRPPF), 58 parole and six executive clemency; Leyte Regional Prison (LRP) in Abuyog, Leyte, 122 parole and two executive clemency; and the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF) in Palawan, 69 parole and 28 executive clemency.

Chaclag said 363 more carpetas were submitted to BPP last May, while 87 carpetas have been forwarded as of June 7.
