NBI seizes 'fake products' worth P60-M

Over P60 million worth of suspected counterfeit products have been seized by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) during operations conducted in Metro Manila and in the provinces of Tarlac, Nueva Ecija and Pangasinan this month of May.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, May 31, the NBI said that seized in Metro Manila were P57.l million worth of fake “Victoria Secret” products and “Pantene” shampoo and conditioners.

Also seized were fake “Gilette” razors and blades worth over P2.4 million, it said.

In Tarlac, Nueva Ecija and Pangasinan, seized were take “Butiki” aerosol spray worth P502,000, it also said.

The NBI said the operations, conducted by agents of the NBI in the NCR, were ordered by Officer-in-Charge Director Eric B. Distor based on complaints filed by “companies whose products are being counterfeited by unscrupulous individuals and being sold in the market.”

While the NBI said its operations yielded more than P60 million worth of fake products, it did not say if there were persons arrested and charged.

It said the largest haul of counterfeit products was done last May 26 with the implementation of eight search warrants against warehouses in Manila and Caloocan cities; four stalls at the 168 Mall in Manila; and the Renlaine Trading in Pasay City.

The search warrants were served to the Nald Consumer Goods Trading located in Pasay City; six stores located in Baclaran Terminal Plaza; various warehouses located on the 6th Floor of Madrid Tower in San Nicolas, Manila; three stores in Binondo, Manila; and an unnamed store located in Pasay City, it said.

In the provinces, the NBI said search warrants were served to the 699 Besty Enterprises Corp. located in Concepcion, Tarlac; New Look Dry Goods store and its warehouse located in Tarlac City; Sam Ken General Merchandise located in Tarlac City; unnumbered house owned by Rose Ramos located in Zaragosa, Nueva Ecija; Ataw Marketing located in Malasiqui, Pangasinan; Winsun Marketing located in Villasis, Pangasinan; and Golden Happy Marketing located in Alcala, Pangasinan.
