She won as mayor with 272,876 votes against rival Arnel Cerafica, former Taguig-Pateros congressman, who received 87,266 votes. She will replace her brother-in-law, Lino Cayetano, who is the incumbent mayor of Taguig.

“All honor and glory be to GOD for the landslide victory of TLC and my husband, Alan Peter S. Cayetano who was proclaimed as Senator-Elect today,” she posted on Facebook.

Cayetano, at the age of 25, won as representative of the First District of Taguig and Pateros in 2007.

After one term, she ran for mayor of Taguig in 2010 and won.

After one term in Congress, it formed in my heart that I wanted to serve the whole Taguig as mayor. The fight was heavy and worrying but the Lord put a different determination in my heart and mind),” she said.

She said that out of the 22 local positions, she was the only one in her party who won.

Because of our effective programs and projects for our citizens, we made history when the public made Mayor Lino win in 2019),” she added.

(Now in my return as mayor, holding the biggest and clearest mandate in the history of our local election, I will try to keep the good programs and goals. Like before, I will be enthusiastic to serve and deliver service).”
