Shehyee's songs, other tracks find new life on TikTok

What’s old is new again.

At least that’s how it looks on TikTok.

Especially when it comes to popular rapper Shehyee’s songs.

Several of the hit rapper’s previously released songs have been trending for the past few months now on TikTok.

Namely “Trip Lang.”

Released back in June 2013, “Trip Lang” is the breakout hit from Shehyee, who at the time was making a name for himself as rap battle champ.

“Trip Lang” is considered one of the first Pinoy viral rap-pop hits of the streaming age. The track easily crossed the million-view mark overnight. The music video features popular vloggers, personalities and rappers  that include Donnalyn Bartolome, Sam Pinto, Bianca Yao, Tei Celis, Smugglaz, Harlem Ty, Juan Lazy, Carl Quion and Yumi.

To date, the music video for “Trip Lang” has over 25 million views.

And now it's making its mark on TikTok.

Users have been using it for their sing-along vids and what-nots.

One other Shehyee track that’s also trending on TikTok is “Samalamig.”

Released in March of 2016, the song is now a popular dance track for TikTok users.

The short-form video sharing app has become a popular platform for music. And not a few tracks have become hits on it and not all of them are necessarily new.

Old tracks such Smash Mouth’s “All Star,” the Black Eyed Peas “Where Is The Love,” and Jack Johnson’s “Upside Down” are just some of the songs that shot back into popularity because of TikTok.

Locally, John Roa’s “Byahe,” Andrew E’s “Aussie Aussie,” Yumi Lacsamana’s “Dyosa” and even Sarah G’s already popular hit “Tala” are just some of the not-new songs that resurfaced on TikTok.

We can add Shehyee’s songs to that list.

Somewhere, an old song is waiting for its second life on TikTok.
