DOJ to file criminal charges vs delivery rider for 'threat to kill' presidential bet Marcos Jr.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has approved the filing of criminal charges against a delivery rider who allegedly threatened to kill presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

In a statement, the DOJ’s Office of Prosecutor General (OPG) said the charges against Michael L. Go will be filed before the Quezon City regional trial court (RTC).

The OPG said that Go will be charged with grave threat under Article 282 of the Revised Penal Code in relation to Republic Act No. 10175, the Cybercrime Law. It said it will recommend bail of P72,000 for Go’s provisional release.

Go is detained at the Quezon City Police Department (QCPD). The complaint against him was filed by Ken E. Romualdez and Bongbong Marcos.

“Grave Threat is a crime against public security,” the OPG said.

“Article 282 penalizes any person who shall threaten another with the infliction upon the person, honor, or property of the latter or of his family of any wrong amounting to a crime,” it said.

It said the case against Go stemmed from his post in his Twitter account.

The OPG said Go posted: "I was blocked by Marcos Jr in 2016. Paki sabi mag ingat siya sa Tandang Sora QC. Pag dumaan siya dun babarilin ko siya. Di ako takot makulong. Hindi rin ako takot mamatay. Isang malaking karangalan ipaghiganti mga kasama ko aktibista biktima ng karahasan panahon ng martial law (Tell Marcos to take care when he is in Tandang Sora, Quezon City. When he passes by there, I will shoot him. I am not afraid to go to jail. I am not afraid to die. It will be an honor to avenge my activist companions who died from violence during martial law)."

Because of this post, the camp of Marcos lodged a complaint before the QCPD which arrested Go.
