Guevarra: 'NBI ready to probe death of ex-DOH undersecretary's son if asked'

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is prepared to conduct a probe on the death of former Health Undersecretary Herminigildo Valle’s son who tested positive for Covid-19 after he got his second dose of the vaccine last Jan. 5.
Justice Secretary Menardo I. Guevarra on Wednesday, March 30, said: “Since the matter has been brought before the DOH (Department of Health), we’ll let the DOH do the primary investigation. This is the area of their expertise and competence.”
“If requested, however, I will direct the NBI to provide forensic assistance to the DOH,” he said.
The DOH had issued a statement that said that it has started looking into the death of Valle’s 17-year-old son, as it assured that “vaccines lower the risk of being hospitalized or getting severe symptoms due to Covid-19.”
Valle’s son died last Feb. 2 at a hospital in Tagum, Davao del Norte and was tested positive for Covid-19.
In a radio interview, Valle said: “Their findings are sepsis, he developed infection. He had myocarditis, which is I think is one of the side effects of the vaccines, and thrombocytopenia or low platelet count, which is also a result of the vaccine.”
