NBI arrests foreigner in illegal drugs buy-bust operation in Makati City

A foreigner has been arrested during an anti-illegal drugs buy-bust operation in Makati City, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said on Wednesday, March 23.
In a statement, the NBI identified the arrested suspect as Qizhi Li who is also known as “Lao Lee.”
It said the suspect was arrested last March 10 in Barangay Poblacion by the agents of the NBI’s Special Action Unit (NBI-SAU).
The operation resulted in the “confiscation of fifty-six pieces shabu pills and one (1) piece metal canister containing white crystalline substance with an estimated street value of P300,000,” it said.
“During the course of the operation the operatives were able to recover from the possession of the subject one (1) Tanfolgio 9 mm caliber pistol with two (2) magazines and twenty-one (21) live 9mm ammunition,” it added.
The NBI said that Li was charged before the Makati City prosecutor’s office with illegal possession of firearms in relation to the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) gun ban, and violations of Sections 5 (sale) and 11 (possession) of Republic Act No. 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
It said “the confiscated illegal drugs were forwarded to the NBI-Forensic Chemistry Division (NBI-FCD) for examination.”
