Sixty-six persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) were released from the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said on Monday, March 21.
Of those released last March 11, 35 PDLs were from the maximum-security compound, 35 from medium-security compound, two from minimum-security compound and three from the reception diagnostic center, BuCor said in a statement.
It said the 66 PDLs had either served their jail terms, had been acquitted or had been granted parole or probation.
“They are ready to reintegrate to the society since they carry knowledge and occupational skills that were developed while incarcerated at the National penitentiary,” it also said.
In 2021, BuCor released 4,610 qualified PDLs from its seven prison facilities nationwide.
