56 new PAO lawyers take oath

Fifty-six newly hired lawyers and 12 support staff for the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) took their oath of office on Monday, March 21.

Aside from the new lawyers, PAO Chief Persida V. Rueda Acosta also administered the oath to 70 promoted lawyers, 10 promoted staff members, and 51 reappointed employees.

The oath-taking was done online.

“Mga kababayan, umasa po tayo na kami pong lahat ay patuloy na maghahandog ng aming buhay, lakas, talino upang mag hari ang katarungan, hustisya sa ating bayan, katotohanan at kaunlaran na mithiin ng sambayanan (To our countrymen, be assured that we will continue to offer our lives, strength, and intelligence so that justice, truth and progress will reign as desired by our nation),” Acosta said during the oath taking ceremony.

Acosta said the newly hired lawyers will replace those who had either been appointed as prosecutors or judges.
