The New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City has released nine more persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) from its Medium Security Compound (MedSeCamp).
In a statement, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said the PDLs were released last Feb. 26 based on the directive issued by Director General Gerald Q. Bantag to CCInsp. Eduardop L. Alipit Jr., acting superintendent of NBP-MedSeCamp.
“Before the release of the PDLs, exit procedures were conducted by External Affairs Section (EAS) personnel,” it said.
“They administered an interview to identify the positive changes they acquired during incarceration and how the Reformation Program affected their spiritual life and well-being,” it added.
Last Feb. 25, a total of 24 PDLs was released from NBP-MedSeCamp.
In 2021, a total of 4,610 PDLs from BuCor’s seven prison facilities was released. Most of those freed had been acquitted of their criminal charges, had served their jail term, or had been granted parole or bail.
