At this year's MWC Barcelona, Huawei meets with global operators, industry partners, and thought leaders to discuss topics such as 5G business success, green technology, connectivity + IT for new growth, and their GUIDE business blueprint, with a focus on business and social value, to illuminate a bright future of digital economy.

Jay Chen

Ryan Ding, Huawei's Executive Director and President of the Carrier BG, delivered a keynote speech titled "Lighting up the Future" at the Huawei Day 0 Forum, stating that operators can focus on three factors: connection density, computing diversity, and carbon reduction intensity. Ding urges operators to join Huawei in its GUIDE business blueprint to jointly build a better digital economy.

Huawei's GUIDE business blueprint provides industry support to digital network providers by laying out the five key capabilities that operators will need to develop to achieve business success in the coming decades, including expanding services, innovating efficiently, leveraging resources, competing on value, and contributing to society.

Ding explained that these three factors can be used to assess the vitality of the digital economy and will be able to provide operators with the levers they need to shape the digital economy's future.

The company supports the green development strategy of the operators. Huawei's full suite of green solutions, which includes green site, green network, and green operation, aims to assist operators in increasing network capacity while lowering energy consumption per bit, achieving "More Bits, Less Watts."

Huawei collaborates with operators and partners all over the world to build simplified, green, and intelligent ICT infrastructure that enables operators to deploy cutting-edge 5G networks. Third-party testing results show that Huawei's 5G networks provide an optimal experience to customers in 13 countries, including Switzerland, Germany, Finland, the Netherlands, South Korea, and Saudi Arabia.

The company has already signed over 3,000 contracts for industrial 5G applications, where they collaborate with operators and partners from a variety of industries, gaining extensive experience in industry applications. Huawei says it wants to help operators take advantage of more new opportunities created by industry digitalization by providing innovative XtoB solutions that integrate 5G, premium private lines, intelligent cloud networks, data centers, and cloud.

Ding also shared 5G success stories from different operators and demonstrated how new 5G applications such as AR, VR, and new video are providing users with new experiences. Flexible 5G pricing models benefit both users and operators, resulting in rapid growth in the 5G user base.

According to Huawei Asia Pacific Vice President Jay Chen, the technology Huawei brought to MWC 2022 was in line with the company's visions and missions to prepare a better global digital community, which also includes the Asia Pacific region.

“The pandemic has helped people in Asia Pacific understand the importance of digital connectivity as well as how to develop the economy, business, and information. The presence of connectivity maintains economic activity, encourages the birth of various MSMEs, start-ups, and all of them attract public attention. In 2022 too, we will make a significant effort to create a powerful digital environment in the Asia Pacific region,” said Jay.

Jay mentioned the success of Huawei Cloud's SPARK program, which was launched in collaboration with a variety of stakeholders, including universities and local government units. “We provide cloud computing training, funding support, and talent training.”

He also stated that 119,000 digital talents have already successfully honed their potential to grow through the Huawei program.

Huawei's long-term goal is to have 500,000 digital talents by 2025.

During the talk, Jay also confirmed that there are a lot of challenges for digital growth in the Asia Pacific region.

“Asia Pacific region is the biggest regional office in the Huawei global market landscape. As a result of the arrangements, we have in place in various countries, we meet several ICT challenges. The challenges are determining how to respond to various requirements in terms of knowledge and solutions. The second challenge is about finding ICT talent. We establish programs that can assist various markets and industries to promote ICT talent growth in the region,” Jay shared.

In terms of the Philippine market, Huawei believes that the country has a great potential to continue its partnership to better serve their Filipino customers.

“We believe that wireless reach can provide better coverage and network speed, as well as provide strong support for social and market development in the Philippines. We also believe that 5G will have a significant impact on the country. We are considering and eager to form a strong partnership with our customers in the Philippines,” Jay added.
