After receiving and poring over more than a hundred applications from its accredited partners and the public, via the Kumuniverse, the Miss Universe Philippines Organization is now ready to reveal its Top 50 list early this week.
Sources say that the top 50 was chosen from a group of short-listed applicants who had to go through an online interview screening over the weekend. Among those who screened were former national titleholders, popular and competitive front-runners from previous national pageants, high-calibre provincial queens and even professionals with sterling backgrounds and credentials.
“This is a highly-competitive batch. We can see a number of the girls actually giving us a good chance of winning our fifth Miss Universe crown eventually, but for now, it’s really going to be anybody’s ballgame,” the source shared.
Once revealed, the Top 50 are expected to go through a series of challenges which will determine the final roster of this year’s candidates.
The reigning Muss Universe Philippines, Beatrice Luigi Gomez, made the final five of the 70th edition of the pageant in Eilat, Israel in December.
