% Arabica PH’s former partners to launch new coffee venture that’s ‘proudly Filipino’

Angkan Coffee Company is set to bring ‘the best beans and brews from around the PH and around the world!’

After the tea about Japanese-hailed coffee chain % Arabica leaving the Philippines has been settled, its former partners here in the country are brewing a new coffee venture with a more pronounced Filipino flair. Through an Instagram post, Allue and Dr. San San Hortaleza of See the World Through Coffee Corp. released a statement about their latest endeavor.

“Since bringing % Arabica to the Philippines in 2017, it has been a dream of ours to build a brand that is proudly Filipino, and seeing the growth of our community through the years has both elevated our passion for great coffee and strengthened our vision to share this with the world,” Hortaleza said. “Though our partnership with % Arabica has come to a close, our efforts to deliver warm, inviting, and high-quality coffeeshops continue.”

“Today, we’re excited to announce that our dream will soon become a reality, so stay tuned while we finish brewing something good,” she added. “Looking forward to sharing more cups of excellent coffee with you.”

The dream she is talking about is the Angkan Coffee Company. The brand was officially announced on social media on Feb. 10. And based on its early releases, it looks like the brand is truly on a mission to champion Filipino coffee heritage and the best brews from around the world.

“Homegrown, well-honed talent working with the best beans the Philippines—and the world—has to offer,” it says in one of its captions. "We look forward to meeting you soon, over some coffee, perhaps?”

While there is no news yet about its offerings, reports state that Angkan Coffee Company is set to open a store in Bonifacio Global City.
