5 persons arrested; 7 women rescued from 'sex den'

Five persons have been arrested while seven women have been rescued by agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) from an alleged sex den in Antimonan, Quezon.

In a statement, the NBI identified the establishment as the Kingfisher Lodge Hotel and Video Bar.

Those arrested last Feb. 10 were also identified by the NBI as Renita Agocho Francia, manager and operator, and Rowena Tocayon Abo, Lyra Amado Riego, Josefina Devilles, and Mary Anne Parco Alvarez.

The NBI said those arrested are now detained at its Lucena District Office (NBI-LUCDO).

It said the operations conducted by NBI-LUCDO “also resulted in the rescue of seven trafficked victims who claimed that they worked as GROs (guest relations officers) in the said sex den.”

“The Atimonan, Quezon Municipal Social Welfare Office’s intervention was sought and the victims were processed accordingly,” it said.

It also said the Quezon provincial prosecutor’s office “has recommended the filing of criminal complaints against those arrested for violations of Republic Act No. 9208, the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003.”
