Three persons allegedly engaged in an investment scam have been arrested during an entrapment operation in Zamboanga City, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said.
The NBI identified those arrested as Francis Arthur Dalguntas, Rehan Tamorda, and Farha Sali. They were apprehended during an entrapment operation conducted by the NBI’s Western Mindanao Regional Office (NBI-WEMRO) along Governor Camins Avenue in Zamboanga City last Feb. 7.
“The operatives were able to seize from the subjects their identification cards, 2 pieces P500 bills and 18 pieces P500 boodle money, one (1) cellular phone, various documents of quit-claim and Distributors Application Form, and one (1) Huawei tablet,” the NBI said in a statement.
It said the entrapment operation was conducted based on the complaint filed before the NBI-WEMRO alleging that “the subjects are using the name of NWORLD CORPORATION (NWORLD) and ALPHANETWORLD CORPORATION (ALPHANET) in their swindling activities.”
“The complaint alleged that NWORLD and ALPHANET are engaged in recruitment by convincing and promising their victims/applicants a return of 15 to 20 percent income, P20,000 worth of beauty products and P100,000 worth of insurance in exchange of their P10,000 investment but in truth, no such thing exists,” it said.
“Verification from the Security and Exchange Commission disclosed that NWORLD and ALPHANET are registered in their system but are not authorized to engage in pooling of investment, thus, violating the Securities Regulation Code,” it added.
