
A woman, who has been ordered arrested by a trial court on charges of illegal recruitment, has been apprehended in Manila by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
Arrested by the NBI’s Anti-Human Trafficking Division (NBI-AHTRAD) was identified as Ranie De Felipe Yusop.
Yusop has been ordered arrested by the Valenzuela City regional trial court (RTC) where she had been charged with illegal recruitment under Republic Act No. 8042, the Migrant Workers Act of 1995, as amended by RA 10022.
In a statement, the NBI said Yusop’s arrest based on the court order was sought by the Blas Ople Foundation which gave her whereabouts. The foundation assists overseas Filipino workers.
“Thus, on Feb. 2, 2022, NBI-AHTRAD operatives proceeded to the reported whereabouts of Subject Yusop at the Century Park Hotel in Malate, Manila and strategically positioned themselves in the vicinity of the hotel waiting for the arrival of the subject,” it said.
