Social media influencer-actress Alex Gonzaga-Morada found some time to cheer up her sister Toni Gonzaga-Soriano who received a backlash after she hosted the proclamation rally of presidential aspirant Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. and running mate Sara Duterte in Bulacan last Tuesday night.
"You’re a queen forever! Nobody does it like you do sissszzz," commented Alex on Toni's post on Instagram Feb. 9.
Even director Paul Soriano stood by his wife Toni and liked her IG post.
On Wednesday, Toni wrote that she was stepping down as the main host of Pinoy Big Brother.
Toni said that it has been her greatest honor to host the reality show for 16 years.
Other celebrities who comforted Toni were socialite Gretchen Barretto, beauty queen Samantha Bernardo, actress Maja Salvador, and stylist Lizz Uy,
"I love you Toni. You are a friend and a sister FOREVER welcome to the outside world, Toni," wrote actress Mariel Padilla, wife of senatorial aspirant-actor Robin Padilla.
On Tuesday night, Toni stirred the public anew when she hosted the campaign rally of Bongbong and Sara for more than three hours.
While hosting the event, Toni said: "Binabati na rin natin ang lahat ng nasa Twitter dahil trending ang BBM-Sara 2022!"
Then she went on to say: "At siyempre, maraming salamat dahil trending din ang inyong lingkod!"
Toni then flashed a V-sign and blew a kiss. She said: "I love you"
At the end of the program, Toni performed the patriotic song "Ako Ay Pilipino" which was originally recorded by Kuh Ledesma in the 80s.
This is not the first that Toni got controversial for her political color.
In September 2021, Toni created controversy when she interviewed Bongbong for her vlog “Toni Talks.”
So far, the interview has been viewed more than 13 million times.
Critics then addressed Toni to talk to the victims of human rights. But the celebrity remained silent about the issue.
Toni is close to the Marcoses after Bongbong became his wedding godfather.
Critics hit Toni, one of the biggest stars of ABS-CBN, when she allied with the government that ordered the shutdown of the Kapamilya Network in May 2020. But fans of the television host lauded her for being fearless and professional.
