What to expect for PUBG Mobile in the Philippines this 2022?

PUBG Mobile 2022

The year 2021 saw a smorgasbord of collaborations in the mobile gaming realm that included the English Premier League’s Liverpool FC team and Riot’s League of Legends popular anime adaptation Arcane, plus Tencent’s hit mobile game that included Marvel’s Spiderman movie, No Way Home. With iconic items and outfits up for grabs, these collaborations were hard to top.

So, what can PUBG Mobile fans in the Philippines expect this 2022, especially in terms of releases and collaborations?

Jujutsu Kaisen

Perhaps the most anticipated release, a teaser for the Jujutsu Kaisen x PUBG Mobile crossover collaboration was released in August 2021.

While no specific details were given to what would be included in this collaboration, we can expect the main characters from the hit anime: Itadori Yuji, Fushiguro Megumi, and Kugisaki Nobara to have character suits, and maybe even voice lines come to PUBG Mobile. It would also be a crime to the fandom if Satoru Goju isn’t included in the collaboration. His pretty-boy looks and badass Domain Expansion ability are highlights of the anime and the manga. If you think about it, PUBG Mobile’s shrinking Playzone mechanic and the whole idea of Domain Expansion are pretty similar, so this collaboration is quite the match made in heaven.

Rise of K-Pop

Dominating music charts and the esports realm — that’s one thing we saw when PUBG Mobile collaborated with international K-pop sensation Blackpink in 2020. Will there be another highly regarded K-pop collaboration by PUBG Mobile this 2022?

Given that K-pop fandom has taken over the Philippines in recent years, and following the successful collaboration with Blackpink, it won’t be a surprise if another one of the Philippines’ favorite K-pop idols signs on with PUBG Mobile for another successful run.

Will PUBG Mobile have BTS, TWICE, or a BLACKPINK collab sequel? It’s no secret that many well-loved K-pop idols are avid fans of PUBG Mobile, after all. An event like this for this year would likely include awesome events and rewards, with the PUBG Mobile map littered with elements inspired by the K-pop group that signs on for the collaboration. Keep your eyes peeled this year as PUBG Mobile delivers yet another collaboration for its loyal Filipino players.
Filipino-Themed Items

With PUBG Mobile increasing its reach within the Filipino community, there have also been murmurings that hint towards Filipino-themed items and events. With the Philippines having one of the higher community engagement and fanbase in the game, it wouldn’t be too far-fetched for PUBG MOBILE to pay homage to them in the best way possible, especially through in-game challenges.

Players can look forward to Filipino-themed in-game wearables, perhaps inspired by the traditional Barong Tagalog or Filipiniana Dress. There have even been talks about Filipino voice packs! Perhaps Filipino mythical legends based out of Ibong Adarna or even the Encantos? Could there be a possibility of Filipino Superheroes’ appearance in the game like Darna or Gagamboy?

What are you most looking forward to out of these or what would you like to see come to PUBG Mobile?
