‘Sex and the City’ fashion throwbacks seen on ‘And Just Like That’

And just like that... we have reached the end of another “Sex and the City” (SATC) chapter with the final episode of its comeback series “And Just Like That” (AJLT). After months of following Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), her friends, and the gang of new diverse characters in the show, we again bid adieu to the iconic New Yorker characters, well, at least for now as rumors are circulating about it having a second season.

While it has been a journey seeing the SATC girls, sans Samantha Jones, navigate life, loss, and the post-COVID world in the series, AJLT has also given viewers great fashion moments through the show’s wardrobe, courtesy of costume designer Molly Rogers. The best of all is when the characters, especially Carrie, wore looks from their past appearances in the series and movie adaptations. As we wait for the news about the series’ future (cross fingers Samantha will be there), let’s look back at some of Carrie’s best fashion throwbacks on the show, proving that re-wearing what’s already in your closet is never a fashion faux pas.

As the show went on filming around New York, one particular look has been a favorite among SATC fans and that is the pink Carolina Herrera dress. The former sex and relationship columnist paired it with Street Ahead’s Roger belt, the same piece she wore in the first SATC movie.

Twenty one years after its debut on SATC’s third season, this blue floral pin appeared again in the first episode of the reboot with another iconic piece (scroll down).

Who could forget that classic blue and satin Manolo Blahnik pumps? This is the item that sealed Mr. Big’s proposal to Carrie in the SATC movie.

While Filipino fans raved at the sight of Carrie wearing a top that is similar to the terno, eagle-eyed fashion fans of the show also spotted the Gucci belt bag first seen on SATC’s fourth season.

Fendi Baguette

“It's not a bag, it's a Baguette,” Carrie said while being mugged on the street. While the stolen Baguette was never returned, Fendi’s signature piece in purple sequins made an appearance again on AJLT.

If there was a piece of jewelry Carrie treasured the most, apart from her wedding band, it is the gold Carrie necklace she donned many times in the series and the movies. Toward the show’s end, she thought she lost it in Paris. While the necklace cost nothing, she got it from a street fair, to her, it was priceless.

There were so many fashion moments seen during the SATC series run, but the one with the stunning Atelier Versace Mille Feuille dress was among the best. Carrie rewore in AJLT while eating Jiffy Pop.

How about you? What’s your AJLT favorite fashion moment?
