Here’s what she wore
In “And Just Like That,” Carrie Bradshaw, portrayed by actress Sarah Jessica Parker, is handling her grieve one spectacular outfit at a time. Not that any designer piece or vintage find can easily recuperate one’s loss, but in her healing journey, viewers are seeing again more of her quirky style attitude with Carrie-esque throwbacks, from that Gucci belt bag and the floor-length tulle skirt to sequinned Baguette bag.
But in episode three of the “Sex And The City” reboot, Carrie’s first outfit sparked questions among Filipino fans. Wearing a top with two puffed sleeves raised by a series of pleats, Pinoy fashion savants can’t help but wonder, is the sex columnist-turned-podcaster wearing a Philippine terno?
In her world (and closet), this isn’t far from happening, especially now that photos of her wearing a “Lekha” lehenga set by Falguni Shane Peacock India have been circulating online. But is the piece really a terno?
While the sleeves she is wearing look identical to the iconic butterfly sleeves, Carrie is wearing a piece crafted by Batsheva. A New York-based ready-to-wear brand, Batsheva has a knack for “retooling historical looks” and “plays with American styles of feminine dress – from Victorian to Pioneer.”
In the “When in Rome....” episode, costume designers Molly Rogers and Danny Santiago paired Batsheva’s fitted the Drindl top with a beaded sheer nude top from Zara.
It may not be a “true” terno, but at least we know Carrie (and SJP) looks good in one.
