The Makati City prosecutors’ office will start on Monday, Feb. 7, the preliminary investigation of the complaint against Gwyneth Anne Chua who became known online as “Poblacion Girl” for violating quarantine protocols after arriving from the United States.

“Per OCP (Office of the City Prosecutor) Makati, Feb. 07 and 14 at 10 a.m. ang sched (The OCP said the schedule of the preliminary investigation is on Feb. 7 and 14),” said Assistant State Prosecutor Honey Rose E. Delgado, spokesperson of the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Office of the Prosecutor General (OPG).

The preliminary investigation will be conducted based on the complaint filed by the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) last Feb. 1.

Aside from Chua, eight other persons were named respondents in the complaint, including her parents, a companion, and several staff members of a hotel where she was supposed to go on quarantine.

The nine respondents were accused of violations of Republic Act No. 11332, the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act.

Chua became viral online after she was found to have attended a party at a hotel in Makati City’s Poblacion area instead of going to quarantine after her arrival from the United States last Dec. 22.

It was later found that a number of people who were at the party became infected with the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
