4 not 3 escapees from NBP?

Were there four, not three, persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) who escaped last Jan. 17 from the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City?

There may be four since one PDL remained missing and could not be located within the NBP as of noon today, Jan. 18, BuCor Deputy Director General Gabriel P. Chaclag said.

Chaclag identified the missing PDL as Chris Candas Ablas who had been convicted of robbery with homicide and sentenced to life imprisonment without parole.

He said: “Ablas has been missing up to present with possibility as the 4th and unidentified escapee who was involved in the prison escape incident yesterday on 17 Jan. 2022.”

“Maximum Security Compound is still placed on lockdown status as of this time while recovery efforts are still on going,” he said.

Two of the three confirmed escapees – Pacifico V. Adlawan and Arwin V. Bio – had been killed when they fought it out with BuCor personnel and policemen when they were sighted.

The third escapee – Drakilou Y. Falcon – has not been located and the BuCor has offered a P100,000 reward on information that could lead to his arrest.

Justice Secretary Menardo I. Guevarra had directed the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to probe the escape of the PDLs and the NBP’s Jan. 2 riot that resulted in the deaths of three PDLs and injuries to 14 others.
