LTO extends registration validity of vehicles with plates ending in ‘1’

As a follow up to the recent announcement that the Land Transportation Office (LTO) will be extending validity of licenses due to expire this month, the agency will also be extending the registration validity of vehicles due to expire.

In a social media post today, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) has announced that the validity of registration of vehicles with plates ending in ‘1’ has been extended. If your vehicle is due for registration renewal this month, you now have until February 28, 2022 to renew it without penalty.

Despite the extension, the LTO urges motorists not to wait until the last minute to renew their registration. In addition, the weekly renewal schedule based on the second digit of the vehicle plate will be observed.

The announcement was made in order to ensure the safety those heading to LTO offices as well as its staff this month in light of the recent rise of cases in the country, following the holiday season. It is also to make up for the closure of several LTO offices with a high number of positive cases among their staff.

In a related announcement, the LTO stated that its main office in East Avenue, LTO Central; NCR East; Diliman District Office; QC Licensing Office (QCLC); QC Licensing Renewal Office (QCLRC); North Motor Vehicle Inspection Center (NMVIC); and the Public Utility Vehicle Registration Center (PUVRC) are closed today, January 10, 2022, due to the high number of positive COVID-19 cases among its frontliners and client-facing personnel of LTO Central Office. These offices are currently undergoing disinfection procedures in order to better and safely serve the public again.
