Belgica 'honored' by nomination to PDP-Laban Senate slate
Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) Chairman Greco Belgica has described his nomination as a guest candidate in the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan's(PDP-Laban) Senate slate as a "great honor."

"Karangalan ko na po ang makapaglingkod sa tao. Kaya ang mabigyan pa po ng tiwala na maipagpatuloy po ito ay mas malaking karangalan po para sa akin (It's already my honor to be able to serve the people. So to be entrusted with the opportunity to continue this, for me, is an even greater honor)," Belgica said in a statement posted Thursday, Sept. 9 on his verified Facebook page.
"Pagsusumikapan ko na hindi mabigo ang Pilipino sa inaasahan nila sa akin labanan ang katiwalian sa gubyerno. Lalo na dahil sa dami ng naghihirap dahil sa nararanasang pandemya (I will strive not to fail Filipinos in my perosnal fight against corruption in government. Especially with all the people suffering right now because of the pandemic)," said the offiial, who late last month was infected with the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Belgica, 43, was nominated to PDP-Laban's senatorial line-up for the May 2022 national elections during the ruling party's national convention Wednesday, Sept. 8.
Included in the administration slate along with the PACC head were Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III, Presidential chief legal counsel Salvador Panelo, Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade, Leyte Rep. Lucy Torres-Gomez, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar, and SAGIP Party-List Rep. Rodante Marcoleta.
The filing of the 2022 poll aspirants' certificates of candidacy (COCs) will take place next months. Once they file their COCs, the public officials will be deemed resigned from the position they are holding.
In the meantime, Belgica said he would continue to strengthen the anti-corruption measures that he has started in his capacity as PACC chief.
He also thanked PDP-Laban, President Duterte, and Senator Chistropher 'Bong' Go for his nomination. Duterte and Go were nominated by the party as its vice presidential candidate and presidential candidate, respectively, in next year's elections.
