Belgica revealed his condition via Facebook on Friday, Aug. 27.

"Nakakalungkot na sa kabila ng ating pag-iingat ay timamaan pa rin ako ng COVID-19. Tunay ngang hindi biro ang sakit na ito at talagang mapanganib (It saddens me that despite my careful actions, I was still stricken by COVID-19. Truly, this disease is serious and really dangerous)," he wrote.

"Humihingi ako ng dasal para sa aking paggaling at dasal para sa kaligtasan ng lahat (I seek prayers for my recovery and for everybody's safety)," added the lawyer.

Belgica was interviewed during the Laging Handa virtual press briefing last Monday, Aug. 23. However, it was only via phone patch wherein he could not be seen.

A friend of Belgica's who declined to be identified claimed that the PACC chairman had actually been feeling under the weather the past few days. Heeding the friend's advice, Belgica sought medical attention. This led him to discover that he is COVID-positive.
