PCG suspends more sea trips in Visayas, Mindanao

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has announced more suspension of sea trips of all types of vessels in Visayas and Mindanao affected areas due to typhoon “Jolina” .

In an advisory, the PCG said all types of vessels from Culasi port going to Batangas port and Romblon are cancelled due to tropical cyclone warning signal number 1 hoisted over the extreme northern portion of Capiz.

The Coast Guard also suspended voyage of all types of watercraft plying Eastern Samar routes.

On Monday, vessels plying the route in Surigao del Norte, Dinagat Islands, Bucas Grande Island, and Siargao Island were ordered suspended due to the inclement weather.

The Coast Guard said those vessels intend to take shelter shall be permitted as long as it has written request and no passenger or cargo will be allowed on board.

The sea trips will resume in the affected areas until further notice and upon the improvement of the sea and weather condition, it added.

Tropical cyclone "Jolina" (international name "Conson") has further intensified and is now a severe tropical storm, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Monday evening, Sept. 6.

Based on the latest forecast track, PAGASA said Jolina will likely have its first landfall over the Eastern Samar-Northern Samar area Monday evening or early Tuesday morning, Sept. 7, then on to its second landfall over Catanduanes by Tuesday afternoon.
