Sea trips in 'Jolina'-affected areas temporarily suspended


The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has temporarily suspended sea trips of vessels and watercraft in affected areas due to tropical depression “Jolina”.

The PCG said all types of vessels plying the route in Surigao del Norte, Dinagat Islands, Bucas Grande Island, and Siargao Island were ordered suspended due to the inclement weather.

“All vessels are reminded to take precautionary measures and be extra vigilant in monitoring the movement of typhoon if deemed to be affected by said weather disturbance,” the Coast Guard said.

The Coast Guard said those vessels intend to take shelter shall be permitted as long as it has written request and no passenger or cargo will be allowed on board.

The sea trips will resume in the affected areas until further notice and upon the improvement of the sea and weather condition, it added.

The low-pressure area (LPA) east of Eastern Samar has intensified into tropical depression “Jolina” at around 2 a.m. Monday, Sept. 6, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

The PAGASA has raised tropical cyclone wind signal number 1 over Eastern Samar, Dinagat Islands, Siargao Islands, and Bucas Grande Islands.
