Post-quarantine bucket list: Bike-friendly farms that cyclists can visit in Southern Luzon

Whether as transportation, recreation, or sport, cycling has become a suitable option for many, especially amid the imposition of pandemic protocols that included public transit capacity constraints and closure of gyms and sports centers. 

Once the pandemic is over,  here are a few farms in Calabarzon that cyclists can visit:

Taal Maranan’s Farmville

This farm tourism destination in Iba East, Taal, Batangas does not only have bike trails, but also offers bike camping should cyclist guests want to stay on the farm for a day or two. They can pitch their tent and have full access to the farm’s infinity pool and other facilities for P1,200 per night. Visitors can also choose to stay in any of the farm’s villas.

For beginners, Taal Maranan’s Farmville has a 10 to 20 kilometer trail. They also have cement roads for road bikes and a longer trail with a distance of 20 to 40 kilometers.

Most of the bike trails that they offer are outside the farm premises, but guests can choose to avail of a guided tour. Another option is an unguided tour with routes that will be provided by the farm through cycling apps.

If they choose to stay inside the farm, they can also roam the short two-kilometer trail.

Other activities on the farm include glamping, animal feeding, and pick-and-pay. There’s a farm restaurant called “Ala eh Cafe” that serves fresh produce and farm-to-table meals where cyclists can take a rest after a long ride, too.

FarmShare Prime

Located in Cavinti, Laguna, FarmShare Prime is a corporation with divisions that keeps the agribusiness running, including a dairy farm, an agri park, and a digital retail platform.

Its agritourism arm called FarmShare Agri Park farm is currently developing bike trails with three routes, namely Family Trail (farm), Enduro Trail (hill), and Adventure Trail (falls). The trails are set to open by September 2021. There will be a fee of P80 for each biker for the farm maintenance.

“The objective is to get the riders to enjoy the unique trails, at the same time promote farming, nature, and eco-adventure,” said Augusto Tengonciang, the president of FarmShare Corporation. 

On the farm, visitors can also experience feeding, petting, and milking farm animals.

Bikers must follow safety measures such as wearing proper clothing and protective gear. Take note that guests who would want to visit the mentioned farms during the pandemic must comply with the LGU’s travel requirements and health protocols.
