DaBaby removed from Lollapalooza after homophobic remark

DaBaby’s slot on the popular music fest was cancelled.

Popular music festival Lollapalooza removed the rap artist on its Sunday show lineup after a week of homophobic remarks.

Recall that DaBaby poked a proverbial hornet’s nest of controversy after his in-performance comment about HIV/AIDS. During his set at Miami’s Rolling Loud music fest a week ago, DaBaby said, “If you didn’t show up today with HIV, AIDS, or any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases, that’ll make you die in two to three weeks, then put your cellphone lighter up…Fellas, if you ain’t sucking d*** in the parking lot, put your cellphone lighter up.”

Fellow artists such as Madonna, Elton, Questlove and Dua Lipa have since voiced their dismay over the rapper’s misinformed statements. Dua Lipa’s collaboration with DaBaby, a remix titled “Levitating” was also removed from playlists on streaming services, reported Rolling Stone.

A clothing brand also cut ties with DaBaby and England’s Parklife Fest have taken the rapper off from its roster of performers.

The Lollapalooza festival is the latest entity to cancel DaBaby when it announced via Twitter that the rapper will no longer perform at the event.  

“Lollapalooza was founded on diversity, inclusivity, respect, and love. With that in mind, DaBaby will no longer be performing at Grant Park tonight,” the tweet read.

DaBaby’s replacement was announced in the same tweet with Lollapalooza opting for  Young Thug and G Herbo to replace DaBaby’s slot.
