It’s a mutual admiration club for these two bands.

This Band and Callalily just dropped a brand-new track titled “Bahala Na.” Said track is the first collaborative effort from the aforementioned hit bands.

This band and Callalily had crossed paths before. Both bands were among those included in the “Rico Blanco Songbook” album, albeit on their own.

But it was enough to put both bands into each other’s orbit. That and both band’s labels made the possibility of working together a breeze. Callalily’s Kean Cipriano is head of OC Records which is a partner label of Viva Records, home to This Band.  

Cipriano said that working with This Band has been very “spontaneous and smooth.” This Band’s Euwie Von Loria echoed the sentiment and threw in a bit of compliment when he said, “Bilang isang banda na nagsisimula pa lang, isa sa mga pangarap naming ay maka-collab and isa sa pinaka-magaling na hitmaker sa Pinas.”

He is of course, referring to Callalily, who since 2005, has strung together some memorable hits to their name that include “Stars,” “Magbalik,” “Pasan,” “Sanctuary,” “Pansamantala,” “Ex,” and “Ilaw.” Callalily’s personnel that includes Cipriano on vocals and guitar, drummer Lemuel Belaro, bassist Aaron Ricafrente guitarist Brylle Balbuena and Nathan Reyes on keys and lead guitar have been a steady and reliable throughout the years.

For their part, This Band’s massive hit of 2018 titled “Kahit Ayaw Mo Na” was their ticket to the big leagues. This Band has since been dishing out hugot anthem songs such as “Di Na Nga,” “Hindi Na Babalik,” “Nang Iwan,” and “Ligaya?”. This Band members include vocalist Andrea Manzano, bassist Miccael Galvan, guitarists Raymart Gubat and Loria, keyboardist Melvin Carson and drummer John Macaranas.

Describing the tune, Loria said “This song is about two people na isina-bahala na lang kay ‘Bahala’ ang lahat.” Cipriano chimed in with “Masakit ‘tong kanta. Masakit maging ‘bahala na’.” 

It was mutual admiration for these bands from there on.

“Thanks for this collab, This Band! Great working with you guys,” wrote Cipriano in a chat group that went like this:

“Thank you rin po! Dream collab namin yan,” answered Loria.

“Bolero!! Hahaha” replied Kean.

“Seryoso yan idol! kung alam nyo lang, ilang battle of the bands namin tinugtog yang “Magbalik,” retorted Loria.

“Aww! Thanks brother. Ako din. Bata palang ako, This Band na pinapakinggan ko,” snapped Cipriano.
