Tala Hospital logs 8 pediatric COVID-19 cases

The Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital and Sanitarium (Tala Hospital) in Caloocan City has recorded eight pediatric patients with coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

"Sa pediatric po, ang nakatala po sa amin is eight over 252 (We currently have eight pediatric patients positive for COVID-19 out of our 252 COVID-19 patients)," Tala Hospital Medical Director Dr. Alfonso Famaran Jr. said in a virtual briefing on Tuesday, Aug. 10.

He added that most of their pediatric patients have moderate to severe COVID-19.

"Yung iba po wala naman pong co-morbidities, kaya lang po late na po napatingin kaya nag-develop na po ng complication ng COVID-19 infection (They do not have co-morbidities, however, it's seems like they were brought here a little late so some of them have already developed complications from COVID-19)," Famaran explained.

The facility has 520 beds for COVID-19 patients, as of Aug. 10, 252 of them are occupied.

Earlier, the Philippine General Hospital said they were also treating six pediatric patients for COVID-19, three of them are critical.
