Milestone! LTO amasses 1M online portal registrants

Over a million registrants have logged into the Land Transportation Office's (LTO) new Land Transportation Management System (LTMS), which allows clients to transact online amid the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

To mark this milestone, LTO Assistant Secretary Edgar C. Galvante recognized the one-millionth client of the LTMS, Samantha Lagrada from Laguna, during a ceremony at the LTO office on Monday, June 7.

Galvante said Lagrada recently applied for a non-professional driver’s license through the LTMS portal.

According to Galvante, the LTMS--built by leading German technology provider Dermalog--is a cornerstone of the agency's five-year Information Technology (IT) modernization program, which aims to make the agency more efficient and online-oriented.

"As part of the LTO’s digital transformation, the LTMS portal gives online service 24/7, allows transactions anytime and anywhere, is customer-centered, seamless with virtually no human intervention allowed, and paperless," Galvante said during the brief event.

"It is a powerful tool for our clients to use as they need it and wherever it is convenient," he added.

The LTO chief assured the public that the agency was on track to provide online services to drivers’ license and vehicle registration clients so as to limit physical contact during the health crisis.

Aside from being more convenient to the public, Galvante said the LTMS also streamlines and safeguards all data submitted by the clients. More importantly, it helps eliminate fixers from the equation.

The online system was rolled out by the LTO last year to allow clients to apply and renew their driver's licenses, student permits, as well as request for revision of records and for certificates of no apprehension at the comfort of their homes.
