Tokyo Milk Cheese Factory's mini burnt Basque cheesecakes

Among the top food trends of 2020, burnt Basque cheesecake gave a touch of sophistication on our quarantine dining. And if you're still not over its velvety, smokey caramel-like goodness, you're in luck as Tokyo Milk Cheese Factory now serves the cheesecake in mini versions.

The confectionery shop first launched its burnt Basque cheesecake in the country earlier this year as part of its Valentine's season offering. This time, it packs the dark-surfaced cheesecake's silky and milky goodness in a cup size perfect for your afternoon indulgence.

"Our mini burnt Basque recipe comes from our amazing chefs in Japan who have tirelessly worked on creating a good balance of creamy and light mix, all nestled in this handy cup," the brand says.

Known as the alter ego of New York-style cheesecake, the Basque burnt cheesecake looks rustic with its cracked exterior and caramel charred color. Hailed from the Basque region of Spain, this cheesecake is baked on a higher temperature than what is required for the classic. What sets the Basque burnt cheesecake apart from other cheesecakes is its play on texture. The bottom part is creamier and thicker, which contrasts with its smokey-flavored top.
