New trailer for 'Suicide Squad' sequel 'Rain' drops

The mad squad is back.

Harley Quinn is back with a couple of new friends as seen in the new trailer of "The Suicide Squad" sequel “Rain.”

The latest trailer dropped recently and highlighted the new characters that’s included in the upcoming James Gunn-directed sequel.

Besides the ‘old-team’ composed of Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), the Suicide Squad has got some new personnel into the fold as recruited by government spook Amanda Waller (Viola Davis). This includes Bloodsport, Peacemaker, Weasel and King Shark as played by Idris Elba, John Cena, Sean Gunn and Sylvester Stallone respectively.

Much like Deadshot in the previous movie, Bloodsport’s (Elba) participation is entirely driven by whatever Waller (Davis) has over his daughter. The tension of course, extends to Waller’s on-ground captain Rick Flag (Kinnaman) who again has the unenviable job of shepherding these maximum-security types that now includes a metahuman man-eater in King Shark (Stallone), a murdering Weasel (Sean Gunn), and a violent extremist in Peacemaker (Cena). The Polka-Dot Man (David Dastmalchian), Ratcatcher (Daniela Melchior), and Blackguard (Pete Davidson) are also acquired by Waller for Task Force X 2.0.

But it would be interesting to see the development of the working relations and rapport between the old Task Force X members that include Flag, Captain Boomerang (Courtney), and Harley Quinzel (Robbie). After all, they did save the world once, but unacknowledged at that. And of course, how well they would get along, or rub against the wrong way with one another and the new recruits.

Besides Idris Elba’s character Bloodsport, who is the de facto numero uno baddie-in-charge of the other baddies, the “Rain” trailer also put a highlight on the main antagonist referred to by Waller as Project Starfish. Project Starfish could be referring to “Starro The Conqueror,” an interdimensional being that the classic, 60’s-era comic version of the Justice League of America battled with.

Expectations are high for the upcoming movie, especially with James Gunn at the helm, considering what he did for Marvel’s "Guardians Of The Galaxy."

"The Suicide Squad" will premiere in the UK on July 30 and on August 6 in the US.
