The incident raises a lot of questions on food hygiene

As many have said, "you can never go wrong with fried chicken." Who would disagree with that? It's like the ultimate comfort food. Just imagine juicy chicken meat, crispy battered skin, and a warm gravy. The smell alone is enough to make you salivate. But what if the fried chicken you're expecting is not what you think it is, let's say, it is made of a piece of cloth?

Believe or not, a netizen aired her frustration on social media after receiving a deep fried towel. Yes. You heard that right. According to a Facebook post by customer Alique Perez, she ordered a fried chicken from a local fast food restaurant and claimed that what she received was a tough, well-battered fried towel.

"This is really disturbing. How the hell do you get the towel in the batter and even fry it," Alique posted. "I really thought that the post complaining about weird stuff in their orders just all made up. Now, I know that it really happens! So disgusting and embarrassing."

On the video Alique posted, she presented her order meal, which was a combo meal of palabok and fried chicken (towel). What's funny, or weird, is that the fried towel definitely looks like the real thing. In the same post, she also pointed out her concern about the cleanliness of the oil used and its effects on the restaurant's other products.

"Now, I can't even think of the other chicken na kasama while frying this. Having the same oil for how many hours after frying this fried towel," she posted. "The essence of the towel contaminated the oil and the batter from the supplier. So how many chicken are affected? We won't know."

The fast food chain has yet to release a statement about the claims.
