Meet the Foo Fighters’ alter-ego band, the Dee Gees.

That’s what the rock band is calling themselves as they prepare for their upcoming vinyl LP titled “Hail Satin.”

The publicity stunt is a way for the world-renowned rock band to celebrate Record Store Day on July 17^th. It’s also a tribute to Australian trio the Bee Gees who became one of the leading pop artists of the 70’s disco era.

A full record, to be released on vinyl, it will have the Foo Fighters – as the Dee Gees – covering a handful of Bee Gees classics.

These include tracks such as “More Than A Woman,” “You Should Be Dancing,” “Tragedy,” “Night Fever” and Andy Gibbs’ “Shadow Dancing.”  

The limited-edition vinyl album will be packaged “era-appropriately in a dazzling mylar sleeve.”

In an official Dee Gees statement, it added, “For optimal results, listen with exposed chest hair and little gold spoon necklace (if you know, you know…)”. The latter is a joking wink and nod to rampant cocaine use at discotheques in the 70’s.   

Grohl said to Rolling Stone that he “became obsessed with the Bee Gees after watching the HBO documentary about the hitmakers.”

The Foo Fighters have previously played Bee Gees covers on two previous occasions. One on the "Jo Wiley Show" on BBC and on the Rock ‘n Relief livestream.

Grohl said of the recording of the Bee Gees classics, “I have never, ever in my life sung like that, but it was the easiest song I have ever sung in my entire life! I sang the song, and it was like six minutes and I was done,” referring to the high, falsetto vocal style of the Bee Gees.

“I should have been singing like this for the last 25 years!”

The 10-track album will also include live versions of songs from the Foos’ new “Medicine at Midnight” album recorded live at Grohl’s 606 studio. This includes tracks such as “Making A Fire,” “Shame Shame,” Waiting on a War,” “No Son of Mine,” and “Cloudspotter.”
