Upcoming Chris Pratt-starrer 'The Tomorrow War' puts spin on time travel trope

Did you miss Chris Pratt kicking alien derriere?

The Guardians of the Galaxy actor is set to face off with invading aliens in the upcoming Amazon Original Movie “The Tomorrow War.”

Amazon Prime Video released the final trailer for the film early this week. The action sci-fi film is scheduled to premiere exclusively on the Amazon Prime streaming platform on July 2^nd.

"The Tomorrow War” is a story about time travelers from the year 2051 coming back to the present day to recruit soldiers to fight a global war against an alien enemy.

In the trailer, a time portal opens up in the middle of what seemed like a nationally televised Christmas day football game. A platoon emerges, as a grim looking soldier announces that they are fighters from “30 years in the future. We are fighting a war…our enemy is not human. And we are losing.”

Chris Pratt is Dan Forester, a military veteran and high school teacher who enlisted in the hopes of saving the future for his daughter. Also starring in the movie is J.K. Simmons as Forester’s estranged father. Directed by Chris McKay and written by Zach Dean, the movie also includes Yvonne Strahovski, Betty Glipin, Sam Richardson, Edwin Hodge, Jasmine Matthews, Ryan Kiera Armstrong and Keith Powers as cast members.

The trailer takes a spin on a tested time-travelling arc of going back to the past to save the future. It's up to Forester and his fellow soldiers, past and future, and his badass dad, to push back on the invading aliens and save the future of mankind.
