FIRST LOOK: Marvel's 'The Eternals' official trailer

A new super powered group arises from the MCU.

The official trailer for Marvel Studios dropped last night (May 24, Manila time) and we have our first full look at the new upcoming ensemble superhero film from Marvel.

The Eternals “Is a group of immortals who have been on Earth for 35,000 years,” Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said back in 2019 when the cast of the movie was first revealed in the popular San Diego Comic-Con.

The trailer starts off oddly enough, with Skeeter Davis’ classic “End Of The World” playing prominently as the soundtrack. Cut to a Paleolithic-looking band of hunter-gatherers looking transfixed as they see the alien-looking ship that carries The Eternals when they first arrived on Earth. In the trailer, The Eternals are seen offering their powers to benefit humans, implying that these immortals have shaped the course of mankind at the start. A shot of Sumeria, an ancient city of Babylon in Mesopotamia, the cradle of civilization is seen thriving and at its height and protected by The Immortals themselves.

The movie stars Angelina Jolie (Thena), Richard Madden (Ikaris), Salma Hayek (Ajak), Korean actor Don Lee a.k.a. Dong-seok Ma of ‘Train To Busan’ (Gilgamesh), Crazy Rich Asians actress Gemma Chan (Sersi), Lia McHugh (Sprite), Brian Tyree Henry (Phastos), ‘The Walking Dead’ actress Lauren Ridloff (Makarri), and Kumail Nanjalani (Kingo).

Kit Harrington is also seen in the movie trailer not in costume, but is cast as Dane Whitman a.k.a. the non-Eternal hero “Black Knight.”

“The Eternals” was created by comic book legend and illustrator Jack Kirby back in 1976. Neil Gaiman wrote a run of the series with comic book illustrator (another legend) John Romita, Jr. in 2006.

“The Eternals” is directed by Oscar winner Chloé Zhao and is set for release on cinemas on Nov. 5, 2021.
