DAVAO CITY -- Over 1,000 families were affected by flooding in Sultan Kudarat due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) lingering over several areas in Mindanao.

In a statement Friday, May 21, the provincial government of Sultan Kudarat said 1,866 houses and 1,265 families were severely affected due to the flooding in the municipalities of Bagumbayan, Isulan, Esperanza, and Lambayong.
"Apektado ang mga bayang konektado sa Allah River na kung saan umapaw na ang tubig dito (Towns along Allah River were affected due to its overflow)," the provincial government said.

At present, 120 families have evacuated to safety. The provincial government has provided relief goods for the affected residents.
According to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) weather forecast issued at 4 a.m. Saturday, May 22, Davao region, Socsargen, and the Bangsamoro region will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. The State weather bureau said the ITCZ over the areas may cause "flash floods or landslide during moderate to at times heavy rains."
