Preview of 'Venom' sequel drops, pits Tom Hardy vs Woody Harrelson

It’s time for the anti-hero to step into the spotlight.

The trailer for the new Venom sequel titled “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” dropped Monday, with Tom Hardy returning as Eddie Brock, the symbiote-powered anti-hero Venom.

In the almost 3-minute trailer, we see Brock trying to live as normal as he possibly can with his carnivorous alter-ego Venom, the alien symbiote that has resided inside his body. To some degree, Brock has shown that he can handle living with, and as, Venom. But that will soon change as he will be tested to his limits as he comes to grips with the arrival of another symbiote in town.

Woody Harrelson plays Cletus Kasady, a serial killer on death row and soon to be host for the alien symbiote Carnage.

In Marvel Comics, after first being cast as one of Spiderman’s rogues, Venom eventually became somewhat of an anti-hero. With the later introduction of Carnage, the latter not only becomes one of the worst villains Spiderman has had to face, but also becomes an arch-nemesis of Brock’s Venom. Because, you know, New York is too small for two alien symbiotes.

Harrelson rocks as Kasady/Carnage and brings a whole world of sinister to the already fraught world of Hardy’s Brock/Venom.

“Venom: Let There Be Carnage” also stars Stephen Graham, Michelle Wiliams, Naomie Harris and is directed by Lord Of The Rings’ Gollum actor Andy Serkis and is scheduled to arrive in theaters on Sept. 24, 2021.

Venom was originally created for comics by writer David Michelinie and visual artist Todd McFarlane.
