DSWD, LGUs provide more than P1.7-M relief aid to 'Bising'-affected families
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the local government units (LGUs) have so far provided relief assistance amounting to more than P1.72 million to the families affected by Typhoon “Bising" in the country's four regions.
The DSWD’s Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC) reported that as of 6 p.m., April 23, the relief response aid disbursed to the affected families totals P1,723,751.20.
The DROMIC noted the increasing number of families affected by Bising in Cagayan Valley, Bicol, Eastern Visayas and Caraga.
Based on its report, Bising had affected 85,570 families or 344,958 persons in 1,099 barangays.

The DROMIC said on Thursday, April 22, the number of families affected by the onslaught of Bising increased to over 75,000.

The report also showed the decreasing number of evacuee-families in 24 evacuation centers.
It said as of April 23, 6 p.m., 779 families or 3,262 persons are currently taking temporary shelter in the evacuation centers in Cagayan Valley, Bicol, Eastern Visayas and Caraga.
The DROMIC said 245 families or 846 persons chose to stay with their relatives and/or friends.
Meanwhile, the DSWD reported 1,730 damaged houses, 137 of which were totally damaged and 1,593 were partially damaged.
The DSWD assured Thursday, April 22, the public that it has “enough" relief supplies to assist the tens of thousands of families affected by Typhoon “Bising”.
