DSWD: Over 75K families affected by ‘Bising’


The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) reported Thursday, April 22, that the number of families affected by the onslaught of Typhoon “Bising” increased to over 75,000.

Based on the report provided by its Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC), as of April 22, 6 p.m., the number of affected families by Bising had reached 75,448 or 302,564  persons in 1,030  barangays in Cagayan Valley, Bicol, Eastern Visayas and Caraga. 

The DROMIC report showed that 2,870 families or 12,228 persons are currently staying in 170 evacuation centers in the four affected regions. 

It said there were a total of 4,479 families or 17,779 persons who opted to stay with their relatives and/or friends. 

Meanwhile, the DSWD reported 1,448 damaged houses, of which 84 were totally damaged and 1,364 were partially damaged.

The DSWD has assured the public that it has “enough" relief supplies to assist the tens of thousands of families affected by Bising.
