Erap taken off ventilator, on stable condition - Jinggoy

Former President Joseph "Erap" Estrada has been removed from ventilation support after suffering from pneumonia due to COVID-19, his son, former Senator Jinggoy Estrada, said Saturday, April 10.

"We are extremely happy to announce that my father has now been removed from ventilator support although he continues to require high flow oxygenation," Jinggoy announced in his Facebook account Friday (April 9).

"While we thank his doctors for their excellent care, we give all the credit to Our Lord Almighty and enjoin everyone to continue praying for my father. We still have a long way to go before he is completely out of danger and we hope that he continues to fight with his usual tenacity as only Erap can," the former senator added.

Jinggoy also thanked the public for their prayers and support for his father's complete recovery.

In another Facebook post on Saturday (April 10), Jinggoy said his father "continues to be stable on high flow oxygen support."

The former president has also begun his "passive exercises" to help him "recover faster," according to Jinggoy.

Estrada was rushed to the Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan City last March 28 after he experienced weakness due to COVID-19.

He was brought to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on April 5 and was put on mechanical ventilation a day after.
