Former President Estrada's condition worsens, now placed on ventilator


Former President Joseph "Erap" Estrada is now placed on mechanical ventilation after his condition worsened a day after being placed in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

In a Facebook post, Former Senator Jinggoy Estrada announced on Tuesday, April 6, that his father's pneumonia worsened after he contracted COVID-19.

"Yesterday, my father’s condition suffered a setback as his pneumonia worsened." Jinggoy said.

"Because of this and the resulting increase in oxygen requirement, his doctors decided to place him on mechanical ventilation." he added.

Jinggoy said that this was done to improve oxygen delivery as well as to prevent weakening his father's respiratory mechanism.

"My father has always been a fighter and I hope that with the help of your prayers he will win this battle. Please continue praying for his immediate recovery." Jinggoy said.

Estrada was was rushed to the Cardinal Santos Medical Center (CSMC) in Greenhills, San Juan on the night of March 28 after he experienced weakness of the body. He tested positive for COVID-19.
