The world is changing. Climate change movements, renewable energy, minimalism and anti-consumerism mindsets, smart buildings, electric cars, and buying green are only some of the earth-friendly initiatives that the vast majority of us are currently supporting. People are waking up to fresh ideas and technologies to counter the problems of pollution and sustainability. Concern for the environment and for the future generations goes on unabated, which reflects in our lifestyle today. One eco trend in food is flexitarianism a style of eating that urges consumers to choose plant-based food without completely eliminating meat or animal products from their diets. As the flexitarian trend grows, so does the demand for meat-substitutes across several markets.

You may have seen it in the grocery store over by the frozen food section. And if you’ve had a taste of the meat-free, cheese-free, and guilt-free Shakey’s Goood Burger, a fast-food victory for vegans, then you’ve definitely tried it. It’s been on the market for quite some time, and yet it deserves even more attention. Because, honestly, it’s one of the most affordable meat alternatives in the market right now. Flexitarians, people with restricted diets, and those who simply seek a healthier lifestyle now have more options to choose from when it comes to plant-based products. And by “it,” we’re talking about the new line of meat alternatives called the unMEAT.

One of the largest branded food companies in the country, Century Pacific Food Inc. (CNPF), takes pride in marrying delectable and healthy with its latest product line. “One of the biggest concerns about plant-based food is that they are not delicious or as pleasing to the palate as real meat,” explains the senior executive at CNPF, Nikki Dizon. “But our Nutrition Science team took that as a challenge, and completely delivered by coming up with a meat alternative that unbelievably and undeniably looks, feels, and tastes like meat. Moreover, they made unMEAT using simple ingredients and extracted the nutrients from real food rather than synthetic compounds so it’s healthier and more affordable.”

Variants of the unMEAT are the Nuggets, Hungarian Sausages, Minced Meat, and the Burger Patty—the same one used in Shakey’s Goood Burger. The burger patty is just as good as a regular one, with a similar mouth-feel, making it one of the best meat alternatives. Beyond looks, texture, and taste, the food is packed with nutritious ingredients. It is an outstanding source of fiber and protein, plus it is cholesterol-free, trans fat-free, egg-free, and dairy-free.

On the launch of the product line, Michelin star chef Sau del Rosario was among the first to sample unMEAT Burger Patty. “The taste is like you got it from the oven. It’s tasty, it’s clean, and it’s very delicious. I would put this in my menu,” he says.

“This newest addition to our product portfolio further strengthens our company’s mission to provide affordable nutrition for all. UnMEAT is both very affordable and delicious,” adds Nikki. More than just a new contender in the faux meat ring, the unMEAT may just dominate the market with its competitive price, flavor, and texture, which are closest to actual meat compared to other brands.

As the plant-based food craze goes on to sweep the world over, CNPF has made it so that consumers get easy access to healthy and tasty 100 percent plant-based food options as the unMEAT line is now available via online shopping platforms, and increasingly in supermarkets and specialty stores nationwide. The company’s global brands team has also begun to offer the product to customers across a network of 80 countries, including the US, Singapore, China, and the Middle East.
